United Nations Club
Westfield High School's Model United Nations Club (WeMUN) has had another successful year. Over 70 WeMUN student delegates bring fresh and diverse perspectives to global challenges, discussing solutions to global poverty, disease, and homelessness. They hone their debate skills in competitions as they foster new understandings of international affairs with other like-minded students from the local area, around Virginia, the United States, and even overseas.
At the first conference of the 2011-2012 school year at C.D. Hylton High School, WeMUN competed against over 700 student delegates from local high schools and was ranked the best overall school.
Just last weekend, WeMUN delegates competed at the Ivy League Model United Nations conference hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. There they took on roles as ambassadors of the country Mauritius and debated diverse solutions to Social, Cultural, Humanitarian, Educational, and Scientific issues of the day.
WeMUN students are empowered, enlightened, and enthusiastic about the world of Model United Nations and hope to lay a foundation for a better and brighter future of humankind.
